We are one of only ten music specialist Colleges in the country, and the only one in the West Midlands. Being awarded Specialist Status is recognition of our excellent reputation for developing the musical ability of our pupils.
The restyled Music Department boasts a state of the art Apple Mac Suite, a recording studio as well as a host of high quality instruments. These fantastic resources capture and stimulate the creativity of our pupils in all the wonderful projects they encounter.
We actively encourage all pupils to get involved in performing and composing their own music both in and out of lesson time. In addition to our own highly talented staff, we use the expertise of Dudley Performing Arts.
New initiatives in the department have seen pupils becoming Music Mentors. This is a programme that recognizes the talent of our pupils and gives them the opportunity of being a second line of staff in the department. The Music Mentor programme has been set up so that pupils not only have the support and guidance of the Music Team, but from the exemplary musicians we have in our school.
